Inline Color Register Control

Controlling the color register is a fundamental part to achieve a high and constant printing performance. The color register determines the overlay of the different printing colors in the printing process. Thereby the colors Cyan, Magenta, Yellow and Key (black) – CMYK – and special colors are printed sequentially. A flawless printing performance depends significantly on how well the colors overlay each other. This can only be achieved by a correctly adjusted color register. Considering this fact it gets clear that color control without a previous register control is almost useless. If the register is not adjusted correctly this will result in a diffuse, blurred or in the worst case, completely illegible print. Concluding we can say that color register measurement is the primary basis for successful printing.

regiCon is the ideal system for color register control. It is conceptually designed for maximum user comfort and can be used by the printer very intuitively. regiCon is used to measure color register deviations with the help of register marks and is based on high resolution digital CCD cameras. The groundbreaking technology even allows a measurement directly behind the last printing unit in front of the dryer unit (web offset presses). Response time can be cut down to split seconds with this very early measuring what in return reduces drastically the waste paper output.

The built in color register mark generator allows to generate user defined register marks. Of course predefined register marks can also be used or combined with user defined marks.

Further Highlights:

• Automatic register mark search
• Automatic white balancing
• Quality control histograms
• Visualization of the measuring data similar to colorCon
